Understanding User Roles and Account Types

In this article:

Moddule offers different account types based on user roles to ensure every user has the correct level of access to the platform. Roles are structured hierarchically, ranging from full system control to external vendors with limited visibility.

User role descriptions

  • Super Manager and Manager: These roles are designed for logistics providers who will manage their customers within Moddule. They provide access to Enterprise settings, allowing users to customize the platform's appearance and manage child companies within Moddule, among other administrative tasks.

The key difference between the two is that a Super Manager can create other Super Manager and Manager accounts, whereas a Manager can only create the user types listed below.

  • Organization Admin: This role is for individual companies, such as beneficial cargo owners (BCOs). Organization Admins have access to Company Settings, which allows them to handle their own user management within their specific company.
  • Standard User: This is the role for all regular users. Standard users can perform regular platform tasks but do not have access to Company Settings.
  • View Only: These users have restricted permissions that allow them to only view information. They are unable to add, edit, or amend any data on the platform.
  • Vendor User: This role is specifically for your external partners and is only relevant if you are using the PO Management functionality. Vendor users have limited access to view or edit specific fields within their own purchase orders.
  • Disabled:This status indicates a user account that is currently disabled and not active.

Who can set user roles?

The ability to assign and edit user roles depends on your own account type:

  • Super Managers have the highest level of access for logistics providers. They can create and assign roles for all user types, including other Super Managers and Managers.
  • Managers can create and assign roles for any user type below their own level. This includes Organization Admins, Standard Users, View Only users, and Vendors. They cannot create other Managers or Super Managers.
  • Organization Admins can manage users within their own specific company (e.g., a BCO managing their own team). They can assign roles such as Standard User or View Only for their organization.
